If you could choose one theme song to play whenever you entered a room, what would it be?
The Sopranos theme song, specifically the “woke up this morning” refrain.
02
How did you end up in your industry?
I have been making and designing things for as long as I can remember and my mother taught me how to machine sew when I was about 10. It started with making little pouches and graduated to altering my own clothes or making garments using vintage patterns I found on Fabric Row. After attending FIT for Fashion Design and working for different large brands for over a decade, I decided to launch my own brand and shop in 2016. I see myself as a Creative or Creative Director as all these years later I really like making all kinds of “stuff.”
03
First piece of music you ever purchased?
The cassette tape of Slaughter’s The Wildlife. My mom made me return it.
04
Favorite activity to pass time during quarantine?
Cooking! In the past I never enjoyed it and found it kind of tedious. We’ve picked up some simple recipes that we make all the time now and it’s relaxing to prep dinner after a long day of work. My recent favorites are a vegan pasta recipe by Julie Saha from a YOWIE workshop we did in October and a modified granola recipe from Dimes.
05
What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve ever been given?
“Stay lean for as long as you can.” I think there's a very romantic narrative right now to raise a ton of money, expand like crazy and go public but I'm really enjoying growing organically and at my own pace.
